Admission to doctoral studies at the Life Sciences Center in the fields of natural sciences (Biochemistry (N 004), Biophysics (N 011), Biology (N 010), Ecology and environmental sciences (N012) and Zoology (N014)) and technological sciences (Chemical Engineering T 005) is carried out according to the general procedure for admission to VU doctoral studies in accordance with Admission Rules for 2024 entry to Doctoral Studies at Vilnius University.
- The deadline for submission of applications and admission documents will be from 2 May to 24 June 2024 (23:59);
- For applicants who have received their education from a foreign higher education institution and who do not have a document confirming the recognition of their diploma in Lithuania, the application and admission documents will be submitted between 2 May and 1 June 2024 (until 23:59).

Biochemistry
The motivational interview will take place from 26 June to 2 July 2024. The exact date, time and venue of the motivational interview will be announced on 20 June.
Selection criteria
The interview will be held on the topic chosen for dissertation. The interview will be evaluated (up to 10 points) on the basis of the applicant's research competence, motivation in choosing the dissertation topic, theoretical preparation and initial methodological skills.
Applicants' research experience will be assessed on the basis of their published research work and participation in international conferences. Points are awarded for:
- 0.25 points for participation at international research conferences with an oral or poster presentation (regardless of the number of conferences);
- 0.5 points for publishing research articles in peer-reviewed journals (regardless of the number of articles) with no citation index (IF)
- 1 point for each research article published in a peer-reviewed journal with an IF.

Biology

A research project is on the chosen dissertation topic and it must include:
- a description of the research problem to be addressed, a discussion of the state of research on the topic in Lithuania and worldwide;
- the relevance, novelty and promise of the chosen topic; and how the data obtained could complement the research already carried out;
- the aim and main objectives of the work formulated;
- the possible research methods and process discussed;
- the length of the project must be up to 10,000 characters; it must comply with the general requirements for research papers;
- The research project must be submitted to the PhD Committee in electronic form till 24th of June (email: ).
